KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington senior Orion Cochrane (Greenville, Maine/Greenville) shot a 75 to lead the Beavers to a fourth place finish out of six teams at the University of New England Invitational, Monday at the Cape Arundel Golf Club.
Cochrane finished tied for fourth overall at the event. Only one competitor shot par on the par 69 Cape Arundel course – medalist Josh Hogan from the University of Southern Maine.
Junior Joe Messerman (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) was tied for 11th, carding an 80 for the tournament. Junior Dan Zmistowski (Old Town, Maine/Old Town) was 18th overall with a round of 84.
UMaine-Farmington shot a combined 332 on its way to fourth place. Southern Maine won the tournament with a 301, while Endicott College was second (308) and the University of New England (309) was third. Maine Maritime Academy (342 ) and Saint Joseph College (352) rounded out the field.
The Beavers return to the course on Sunday, Oct. 7, when they begin play in the two-day USM Fall Classic at Gorham Country Club.
