Box Score POULTNEY, Vt. – Third-year midfielder Rachel Clement scored twice while four other players each added a goal as the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team defeated Green Mountain College, 6-0, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Sunday afternoon at Eagle Game Field.
Junior goalkeeper Beth Lebel and backup Samantha Hatch combined to hold a UMF opponent scoreless for the fifth time this season, as Farmington improved to 7-5-1, 4-1-1 in NAC play. Green Mountain dropped to 0-11-0 overall, 0-5-0 in conference.
The Beavers had a strong opening first half, scoring five goals. Scoring first for the Beavers was Rachel Clement capitalizing off a free kick from Lauren Perkins in the 23rd minute. Two minutes later the Beavers struck again as Ava Amador scored off a pass from teammate Keli McLellan in the 25th minute.
The Beavers offense continued to pressure the Eagles' defense, causing confusion in the backfield, allowing Clement to notch her second goal of the game in the 27th minute off a rebound that Eagle goal keeper Emma Lord could not contain.
With time winding down in the opening half, UMF's Kayla Tuttle converted a pass, heading it past Lord in the 44th minute. Then just four seconds later Dupre recorded her second goal as she capitalized off a pass from teammate Noelle Moulton allowing the Beavers to carry a 5-0 lead into halftime.
Green Mountain's defensive effort was more effective in the second half as it held the Beavers to one goal. However, the sixth and final goal of the match deflected off of a Green Mountain defender crediting Katie Emmons with her first goal in the 47th minute.
Lebel recorded one save over 63 minutes between the pipes, with Hatch playing the final 27 minutes.
UMaine-Farmington will travel to Waterville on Wednesday to face Thomas in a NAC matchup, before returning home on Sunday for a non-conference tilt against UMaine-Machias.
