GORHAM, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington senior Orion Cochrane (Greenville, Maine/Greenville) shot a two-day total of 149 to finish tied for 11th overall at the University of Southern Maine Fall Classic, which concluded Monday at the Gorham Country Club.
Cochrane paced a UMF squad that was tied for 10th overall after carding a 646 at the par 71, 6059 yard Gorham course.
Cochrane was rewarded for his consistency on the course, shooting a 74 in Sunday's first round with a 75 on Monday. Junior Joe Messerman (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) was tied for 33rd with a two-day tally of 158; he fired an 82 in Monday's second round as a follow up to Sunday's score of 76.
Freshman Simon Rollins (South Chine, Maine/Erskine Academy) carded a 168 to finish tied for 45th, followed by David Berthiaume (Allenstown, N.H./Pembroke Academy) with a 173. Tom Bearor (Bangor, Maine/Bangor) shot 192 over the two days.
Husson University won the event with a two-day total of 586, followed by Endicott (593), Southern Maine (595), UMass-Dartmouth (599), Univ. of New England (612), Bowdoin (619), Southern Maine-Blue (633), Emmanuel (636), Johnson & Wales (638), UMaine-Farmington (646), and Saint Joseph's College (646).
UMaine-Farmington concludes its season this weekend at the North Atlantic Conference Championshi on Saturday, Oct. 13, and Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Waterville Country Club.
