UMF golf places third out of eight at Husson Invitational

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington golf team carded a 322 (+34) to finish third out of eight teams at Saturday's Husson Invitational at the Penobscot Valley Country Club.

Senior Orion Cochrane (Greenville, Maine/Greenville) finished in a tie for third on the individual leaderboard, firing a 76 on the par 72, 6,442-yard Penobscot Valley course.

Junior Joe Messerman (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) finished 12th out of 45 competitors after posting a round of 80, while freshman Simon Rollins (South China, Maine/Erskine Academy) shot an 82 and was tied for 17th. Junior Dan Zmitowski (Old Town, Maine/Old Town) rounded out the list of UMaine-Farmington competitors to be included in the score, shooting an 84 and tying for 21st overall.

Husson won the event with a team score of 307 (+19), followed by the University of Southern Maine in second with a score of 313 (+25). Bowdoin (333) was fourth, followed by UMaine-Presque Isle (335), Colby (337), Bates (343), and Maine Maritime (349).

UMaine-Farmington's next competition will be Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the St. Joseph's College John Queenan Memorial Tournament at Point Sebago Golf Club in Casco, Maine.
