UMF golf finishes third at St. Joe's Queenan Memorial

Complete 2012 John Queenan Memorial Tournament results

CASCO, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's golf team carded a 345 team total to finish third overall out of six teams at the St. Joseph's College John Queenan Memorial Tournament, held Tuesday at the 6,474-yard, par 72 Point Sebago Golf Resort course.

UMF senior Orion Cochrane (Greenville, Maine/Greenville) had the lone round for the Beavers, firing a 79 to finish third overall. He trailed Husson's William Hutchins and Porter Gervais, who shot a 74 and 78 respectively.

Junior Joe Messerman (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) was 11th overall after turning in a round of 86, while junior David Berthiaume (Allenstown, N.H./Pembroke Academy) was tied for 12th after shooting an 87. Senior David Woodbrey (Raymond, Maine/Poland Regional) was tied for 19th with a round of 93.

Husson won the team title with a score of 312, while Southern Maine was second after carding a 342. Trailing UMF were St. Joseph's (357), University of New England (362), and Daniel Webster College (394).

UMaine-Farmington will compete at the State of Maine Championship at the Val Halla Golf Course in Cumberland on Saturday, Sept. 22, and Sunday, Sept. 23.
