Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – A combined 36 shots, 15 of which were on goal, over 110 minutes failed to produce a victory, as the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer played visiting Colby-Sawyer to a scoreless draw in a North Atlantic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon at Prescott Field.
Colby-Sawyer (6-2-1, 2-0-1 NAC) held a 21-15 advantage in total shots, including an 11-4 edge in shots on goal, but a stingy UMaine-Farmington (5-3-1, 2-0-1 NAC) allowed few of those shots to be quality attempts at the Beavers' goal.
"Our back line was so solid today, so tough," said UMF head women's soccer coach Molly Wilkie. "They were winning 50/50 balls, slide tackling, winning balls in the air – they were doing everything possible to keep us in the game, and they deserve so much of the credit for getting us a tie today. They did their part."
UMF keeper Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) recorded a season-high 11 saves in the shutout, her second consecutive outing without yielding a goal. Lebel's scoreless streak now stands at nearly 209 minutes following her effort against Colby-Sawyer.
"I was really proud of how Beth (Lebel) played in goal today – she energized our entire team," said Wilkie. "She came up with numerous big saves, and played her best game of the season by far."
Colby-Sawyer keeper Shay Spencer logged four saves over her 110 minutes in the Chargers' goal. UMaine-Farmington midfielder Kayla Tuttle (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) and forward Alida Peake (Penobscot, Maine/George Stevens Academy) were together responsible for over half the Beavers' offense; Tuttle ripped five shots at the Chargers' goal with two requiring Spencer to make a save, with Peake letting loose four total shots with one of those on goal.
UMaine-Farmington closes out its weekend NAC home stand on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2:15 p.m. when the Beavers host New England College.
