UMF fifth after day one at NAC Championship

ROCKPORT, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's golf team finished day one of the 2013 North Atlantic Conference Championship in fifth place after firing a 329 on Saturday at the Samoset Resort Golf Course.

Husson University sits atop the leaderboard with a 297, while Salem State University is in second place with a total round of 309. Maine Maritime Academy is in third place with a 321, while Castleton State College is ahead of UMF in fourth place after carding a 325.

Individually, senior Joe Messerman is tied for 11th with a round of 80 on the par-70, 6108-yard Samoset course. David Berthiaume is tied for 16th after carding an 81, while Simon Rollins is alone in 19th after shooting an 82.

Competition concludes on Sunday, with the first groups heading out at 9:00 a.m.
