AUGUSTA, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's golf team finished seventh out of eight teams at the Maine Maritime Academy Mariner Invitational, held Friday at the Augusta Country Club.
The Beavers turned in a team score of 335, one stroke ahead of Colby College in eighth place with a 336. Husson University won the event with a team score of 302, narrowly edging the University of Southern Maine with a score of 303. Maine Maritime was third with a 312.
Individually, Joe Messerman carded a 78 on the par-70, 6214-yard Augusta Country Club course and was tied for ninth overall. David Berthiaume fired an 81 and was tied for 20th. Simon Rollins (87) was in 31st place, while Aaron Rivard (89) was 33rd. Tom Bearor shot a 100 and was 40th overall.
UMaine-Farmington men's golf will have Saturday off before returning to the links on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 6-7, in the University of Southern Maine Fall Classic.
