GORHAM, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington freshman Chris Wallace fired a team-best 76 on day one of the University of Southern Maine Fall Classic, Sunday afternoon at the Gorham Country Club.
Senior Joe Messerman carded an 85 in his opening round, while Simon Rollins, David Berthiaume, and Tom Bearor each shot an 89 on the Gorham course.
The Beavers finished the day 10th out of 10 teams with a total of 339. UMass-Dartmouth leads the event with a 300, led by Brendan Kelleher's 71. Husson University is second with a 301, followed by the Southern Maine "A" squad with a 302.
Day two competition begins on Monday, Oct. 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gorham Country Club.
