ORONO, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington senior Joe Messerman was tied for fourth overall at the conclusion of day one at the Husson Invitational, which began Saturday at the Penobscot Valley Country Club.
Messerman carded a 79, six shots off the pace set by leader Bill Hutchins of Husson. Simon Rollins fired an 84 for the Beavers, and is tied for 12th overall.
UMaine-Farmington posted a 345 overall and is tied for fourth with Maine Maritime out of 10 teams in the field. Husson leads with a 306, followed by Endicott College (334), and Southern Maine (339).
Sunday's day two of play begins at 12:30 p.m.
