BRUNSWICK, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington senior Joe Messerman and freshman Chris Wallace each posted a two-day total of 166 to lead the Beavers at the 2013 Bowdoin College Invitational golf tournament, which concluded Sunday at the Brunswick Golf Club.
After carding a 79 in Saturday's first round, Messerman came back with an 87 on Sunday. Wallace fired an 82 in the first round, and proved his mettle by nearly matching that with an 84 on Sunday.
Simon Rollins combined his rounds of 79 and 88 for a two-day tally of 167. David Berthiaume and Aaron Rivard carded rounds of 88 and 92 on Sunday, and finished the tournament with scores of 180 and 181 respectively.
UMaine-Farmington finished 11th overall in the tournament with total of 676. Middlebury College won the 13-team event with a 605, with UMF's NAC rival Husson University posting a 616. The host squad from Bowdoin fired a 644 on the par 72, 6,601-yard Brunswick Golf Club course.
UMaine-Farmington returns to the links on Thursday, Sept. 12, when it hosts the UMF Invitational at the Sunday River Golf Course in Newry, Maine.
