Double Overtime Game vs. NEC Ends in Scoreless Tie

Box Score

FARMINGTON, Maine – The UMaine-Farmington women's soccer team (8-7-1) tied New England College, 0-0, after a double overtime game on Saturday at Prescott Field.

The Beavers best scoring chance in the first half came in the 28th minute. Avalon Amador played a ball inside the box and tried to hook a shot through the NEC defense. NEC keeper Tricia Sardagnola was in position to gather the easy save.

NEC looked to get on the scoreboard before intermission in the 40h minute when Hannah Wood fired a shot at Sam Hatch, but Hatch trapped the save and gained control to kill the scoring opportunity.

Avalon Amador sought another shot in the 66th minute. With her back to the defense, Amador fired a quick shot on goal but again, Sardagnola was there to keeper the game scoreless. Alexandra Crocker looked to score her ninth goal of the season in the 74th minute, but Sardagnola kept the Pilgrims in the game with another save.

In the first overtime, Kaiti Kinney wanted to give UMF the walk-off win but Sardagnola forced the game into a second overtime.

In the final session, NEC had two corner kick opportunities but could not take advantage.

Sam Hatch saved 11 shots for the Beavers in the four periods of play and her counterpart Tricia Sardagnola saved seven shots for the Pilgrims.

UMaine-Farmington celebrates Senior Day on Sunday as the Beavers play host to Colby-Sawyer.
