LAST MEETING
Saint Joseph's College posted a 2-0 victory over UMaine-Farmington exactly a year ago today. The Monks scored a goal in each half and managed to keep the Beavers off the scoreboard. Lauren Chouinard found the back of the net in the 13th minute to give the Monks an early lead. Danielle Daigle managed to give the Monks an insurance goal after receiving a pass from Ashley Beaulieu.
Beth Lebel recorded 5 saves and Amy Jones added two more saves for the Beavers. Saint Joseph's goalie Jaci Lorenzen stopped all four shots on goal that came her way. The Monks outshot the Beavers 12-5 and won the corner kick battle as well, 5-1.
OPENING DAY
The Beavers opened 2014 season on Saturday, September 6th at the University of New England. The Beavers came up short as the Nor'easters scored two goals in each half on their way to a 4-0 victory. The Beavers were outshot 36-5 in the game by giving up four goals to four different Nor'easters players.
WILKIE'S GROUP
Coach Molly Wilkie brings experience to the table this year as the Beavers' roster consists of seven seniors. Four juniors also add to the mix including junior goalkeeper Sam Hatch, who recorded eight saves in the Beavers' opening loss to UNE.
SCOUTING THE MONKS
Saint Joseph's comes into today's contest having come off a 2-0 win at New England College on Sunday, September 7th. Today will be the Monks' fifth game of the season after falling to Bates, Wheaton (Mass.), and the UNE before Sunday's victory. The Monks are getting outshout 46-17 by their opponents in the opening period so far this season.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Hannah LeBlanc leads the Monks with 10 shots and found the back of the net in the win over New England College. She shares the team lead in goals with Danielle Daigle and Megan Ford. Goalie Marina Cameron has recorded 17 saves in her four starts so far this season.
The Beavers look to rebound as senior forward Ava Amador, who was voted Second Team All-Conference, last year to get UMF on the scoreboard. Senior forward Sarah Pokorny and junior Dayle Jordan each recorded a shot on goal in the loss to UNE who will look to contribute to the Beavers' offense today.
