BRUNSWICK, Maine – Eric Aguiar (Thornton, N.H./Plymouth Regional) closed day one of the Bowdoin Invitational with a tie for 19th place on Saturday with the round hosted at the Brunswick Country Club.
Aguiar shot a 78 today and sits in a four-way tie for 19th. Aguiar trails Husson's Greg Martin for the top spot by eight strokes. Action is very close after the first day as three members of the field are tied for third with a 74, four members tied at 10th with a 75, five members tied at 14th with a 76, and four members tied at 18th with a 77.
Gavin Brickley (Plymouth, N.H./Plymouth Regional) and Mike Richard trail Aguiar by only a stroke with a 79 and tied for 24th. Aaron Rivard (Acton, Maine/Sanford) shot an 85 in the round and Travis Kupec (Windsor Locks, Conn./Windsor Locks) rounded out the Beavers squad with a 101.
UMF sits tied for seventh in the field as a team. The squad combined for a 321 in the round and find themselves tied with Saint Joseph's. The Beavers lead Bates by a stroke but trail Nichols by six strokes for the sixth slot. Providence leads the field with a 300.
UMaine-Farmington will tee off tomorrow morning for the final round of the Bowdoin Invitational.
