POLAND, Maine – Michael Richard (Turner, Maine/St. Dominic Academy) shot a 148 (+4) combined total to finish third overall out of 54 competitors at the 2015 Maine Intercollegiate Golf Championship this weekend, hosted at the Fairlawn Country Club.

Richard had a stellar round on Saturday with a 72 and three birdies. After a score of +1 on the front nine, the sophomore rebounded with a birdie on the 12^th hole and parred the rest of the round to finish even on the day. On Sunday, Richard birdied the fourth hole and rounded out the day at +4.

Aaron Rivard (Acton, Maine/Sanford) and Gavin Brickley (Plymouth, N.H./Plymouth Regional) ranked tied for 21^st at the end of the tournament. Trevor Hisler (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan) tied for 38^th in his first career match. The junior recorded his first career birdie on Saturday by sinking the clutch putt on the 16^th hole. Hisler also improved by a stroke on Sunday with an 84 after carding an 85 on Saturday. Travis Kupec (Winsor Locks, Conn./Windsor Locks) ended the match with a 45^th place tie and sank a birdie late in the second round on Sunday.

On Saturday, the team saw themselves with a sixth place finish on the leaderboard after round one. UMF concluded the tournament with a fifth place tie with North Atlantic Conference rival Maine Maritime Academy. The team combined for a 635 after a 313 in round one and 322 in round two on Sunday. Saint Joseph's won the championship with a 607, topping Husson by a stroke.

UMaine-Farmington competes in the Thomas Invitational on Wednesday, hosted at the Waterville Country Club.
