WATERVILLE, Maine – Gavin Brickley (Plymouth, N.H./Plymouth Regional) had a strong showing at the Thomas Invitational with a sixth place tied after carding a 76. The one-day tournament of 30 golfers was hosted at the Waterville Country Club.
Brickley ended the front nine with a 39 and improved by two strokes on the final nine holes with a 37. The sophomore trailed Saint Joe's Cam Letourneau by only three strokes for the lead.
Michael Richard (Turner, Maine/St. Dominic Academy) trailed Brickley by five strokes and tied for 10th at the end of the round. Aaron Rivard (Acton, Maine/Sanford) was nearly even throughout the round with a 41 on the front nine and 42 on the back nine for an 83 and ranked 13th.
The Beavers finished third in the team standings with a 327 combined score. UMF trailed Maine Maritime by 20 strokes for second but held a nine-stroke lead over Colby for the third place spot. Saint Joseph's grabbed the crown with a 297.
UMaine-Farmington will compete in the Husson Invitational this weekend, hosted at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
