BANGOR, Maine – Gavin Brickley led the University of Maine at Farmington golf team with a top 25 finish in the Husson Invitational, hosted at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course this weekend.
After shooting a total 84 in the first round on Saturday, Brickley stepped up to the tee and improved by nine strokes on the final day of the tournament with a combined total of 159 for the round. The sophomore also landed in a tie for 22nd place.
Fellow sophomore Michael Richard followed Brickley with a 160 and tied for 25th. Eric Aguiar and Travis Kupec both grabbed a top 50 spot on the individual leaderboard.
The Beavers finished ninth on the team leaderboard and fourth among North Atlantic Conference teams. UMF tallied a 665 for the tournament and trailed Maine Maritime Academy by 31 strokes for eighth place. Saint Joseph's College won the event with a 600.
UMaine-Farmington will tee off at the Maine Maritime Invitational on Thursday, hosted at the Augusta Country Club.
