LEEDS, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington golf sits in a fourth place tie with the University of Southern Maine after the first round of the Maine Intercollegiate Championship on Saturday, hosted at the Springbrook Golf Club.
Eric Aguiar (Thornton, N.H./Plymouth Regional) leads the team after a solid round. The sophomore sits in third place with a 73, only six strokes behind the leader. Gavin Brickley (Plymouth, N.H./Plymouth Regional) is tied for 18th place after finishing the round with a 78. Michael Richard (Turner, Maine/St. Dominic Academy) is only a stroke behind Brickley in a 20th place tie. Trevor Hisler (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan) is in a six-way tie for 24th after carding an 84. Alex Grenier (Winslow, Maine/Winslow) rounds out UMF's scoring in 44th with an 89.
The Beavers shot a 311 for the day and within striking distance for the title. UMF is only a stroke behind Bates College for third place, as Saint Joseph's ranks second with a 307, and Husson University leads the field with a 303.
