Beavers Jump To Third Place In NAC Championship

PITTSFIELD, MA - UMaine-Farmington golf team posted a 318 on day two of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship to move into third place overall on Monday at Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield, MA.  Improving by nine strokes the Beavers jumped ahead of both MMA and MCLA for the third-place finish.  Husson College finished first followed by Salem State.

Senior Gavin Brickley carded a team-low 77 on Monday to lead the Beavers charge.  Brickley's low score allowed him to finish tied for 18th in the individual standings.  Junior Eric Aguiar finished with a 78 on day two and jumped to eighth place.  Trevor Hisler (81) ended up in ninth, Michael Richard (82) finished tied for 11th.

Husson recorded a 303 in the opening round before posting a solid 298 on the final day to secure an automatic berth to the 2018 NCAA Championship. Salem State totaled a 627 (320-307) to take runner-up honors, while UMaine-Farmington followed with a 645 (327-318) for third, Maine Maritime tallied a 658 (327-331) for fourth and MCLA recorded a 664 (323-341) for fifth.

UMaine-Farmington was slated to finish fourth in the NAC preseason poll and placed third in the final standings.  This was the Beavers second consecutive third-place finish at the NAC Championships.
