Golf Has Strong Third Place Finish At Thomas Invitational

WATERVILLE, Maine – Senior Gavin Brickley fired a four over 74 to lead the University of Maine at Farmington golf team to a third-place finish at the Thomas Invitational on Sunday afternoon.  UMF finished with 311 at the one-day tournament played at the Waterville Country Club. 

The Beavers ended 14 strokes behind tournament winner St. Joe's (297), and one stroke behind runner-up University of New England (310). 

Brickley's 74 was good enough for a second place finish out of 34 participants.  Adam Bachelder of St. Joes shot 69 to earn the individual win.  Dylan Andrews of UNE matched Brickley's 74 to tie for the runner-up position.

Senior Mike Richards finished tied for eighth with a 77.  Junior Eric Aguiar (80) and senior Trevor Hisler (80) finished tied for 16th.  Sophomore Matt Pelletier (86) rounded out the scoring for the Beavers. 

UMaine-Farmington will travel to Cape Arundel in Kennebunkport, Maine, on Tuesday to compete in the University of New England Invitational (10:00 am).
