Aguiar, Beavers Finish Third in Season Opening Match

 GORHAM, Maine -- Senior Eric Aguiar shot a four over 75 to lead the University of Maine at Farmington golf team to a third-place finish Friday in the Beavers season-opening tri-match with the host University of Southern Maine and Saint Joseph's College at the Gorham CC.

Southern Maine posted a team score of 312 to take the top spot.  Saint Joseph's edged UMaine Farmington by one stroke for the runner-up spot, 317-318.

Greg Kalagias shot an even-par 71 for the top individual performance.  Senior Cam Letourneau of Saint Joseph's finished three strokes back with a 74, with Aguiar finishing third with his 75.

UMF Junior Justin Rodrigue turned in an 81, followed by freshman Nate Poulin with an 85 and junior Matt Pelletier with a 90 to give UMF a team score of 318.

The Beavers are back out on the links on Tuesday (10 a.m.) when they compete at the John Queenan Memorial Tournament at the Pt. Sebago GC in Casco, Maine.  Saint Joseph's College is the tournament host.
