BANGOR, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington golf team shot a combined score of 318 on day two to remain in 8th place at the 2018 Maine Championship, which concluded Sunday (Sep. 16) at Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
The Beavers posted a 36-hole score of 637, finishing just behind the Monks of St. Joseph's (621) and one stroke better than North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rival Thomas College (636).
Husson University "Gold" team took first place at 574 (296-278), overnight leader the University of Southern Maine at 584 (295-289) finished second, Bates College third with 609 (308-301), and Colby College with 610 (309-301) finished fourth.
Senior Eric Aguiar lead UMF finishing with 152 (77-75) good enough for 17th place individually. Matt Pelletier scored a 157 (79-78), Justin Rodrigue carded a 166 (85-81) and Lucas Worrell finished at 182 (90-92) to round out the scoring.
Gavin Dugas of Husson captured the individual title with a 138 total (71-67). He had trailed runner-up Jack Griffith of Colby by two entering the round and ended up five in front.
The Beavers will next host the University of Maine at Farmington Invitational on Saturday, September 22nd at the Waterville Country Club.
