Golf Team Finishes Seventh at John Queenan Memorial

CASCO, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington golf team took seventh place on Tuesday in the final team standings at the annual John Queenan Memorial tournament hosted by Saint Joseph's College at the Point Sebago Golf Club.

Southern Maine edged out the host Saint Josephs for the top spot, 316-318, in the field of nine teams.  The University of New England was third at 327 followed by the Husson University "B" group at 330.

Junior Matt Pelletier led the Beavers posting an 84 to finish in the 20th spot. Senior Eric Aguiar carded an 89.

Sophomore Charlie DeHaas finished with a 93, and junior Justin Rodrique had a 92 to round out UMF's four best scores.

University of New England senior Mike Rich posted the low score of the day with a 2-over par 74.  SJC senior Cam Latourneau was runner-up with a 75.  Only eight players in the field were able to break 80 on the day.

UMF returns to action this weekend (September 8-9) playing in the two-day, 36-hole Bowdoin College Invitational to be played at the Brunswick CC.
