Box Score JOHNSON, Vermont – Seven different players charted goals for the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team and powered the Beavers to an 8-0 win over Northern Vermont University-Johnson, Sunday afternoon at Minaert Field.
UMaine-Farmington improved to 7-9-0 overall with its fourth straight victory – the Beavers' longest regular-season winning streak since the 2018 season.
The Beavers netted six goals and outshot the Badgers, 24-2, in the opening half alone. Senior Elena Guarino got UMaine-Farmington on the scoreboard in the game's 12th minute when she finished on a corner kick by Kate Mohlar, and first year Aurelia Maietta added to the UMF tally just under three minutes later.
Later in the frame, Audrey Fletcher notched back-to-back goals to put the Beavers in front 4-0. Fletcher's first goal was an unassisted score in the 31st minute, and she found the back of the Badgers' goal a second time roughly a minute later.
Grace Mahmood extended the Beavers' lead to 5-0 in the 37th minute with an assist from McKenna Brodeur, and Brodeur tallied a goal of her own in the 41st minute off a pass from Emily Larochelle.
In the second half, Abby Lash finished on a feed from Fletcher in the 48th minute, giving UMaine-Farmington a 7-0 lead. Haley Fletcher capped the day's scoring in the 69th minute with an unassisted score.
UMaine-Farmington finished the game with 38 shots and 14 corner kicks to Northern Vermont-Johnson's four shots. Starter Callie Hammer and reserve Lily Souza equally split the time in the UMaine-Farmington and each recorded one save, while NVU-Johnson's Grace Verrner and Emily Carchia combined to chart 10 saves.
UMF women's soccer closes out its 2021 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 23, when it hosts Thomas College at Leib Field. The match will start at 12:00 p.m., with Senior Day recognition ceremonies for Adriana Novella, Shukri Abdirahman, Elena Guarino, Callie Hammer, Haley Fletcher, Leah Stevens, and McKenna Brodeur taking place prior to the game.
