Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine -- Five different players got involved in the scoring as the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team rolled to a 5-1 win over visiting Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, Saturday afternoon at Leib Field.
McKenna Brodeur led the Beavers to the North Atlantic Conference East Division victory with an assist on Emily Larochelle's eventual game-winning goal in the 26th minute, giving UMaine-Farmington a 2-1 advantage, and then tacking on two quick insurance goals in the 50th and 51st minutes to extend the lead to 4-1.
Rookie Kiley Merritt scored her first collegiate goal with an unassisted strike in the 77th minute, cementing the Beavers' win.
First year Audrey Fletcher notched her second collegiate goal on UMaine-Farmington's first strike of the game, a blast into the far corner in the game's 13th minute. That goal came in response to NVU-Lyndon's unassisted score in the 11th minute by Alyssa Fryman, giving the Hornets their first lead in a game this season.
Abby Lash earned an assist on Brodeur's second goal, to round out the list of UMaine-Farmington players involved in the scoring.
UMaine-Farmington outshot NVU-Lyndon, 38-4, and peppered Hornet keeper Karly Cordwell with 28 shots on goals with Cordwell recording 23 saves. UMF starter Callie Hammer charted one save for the Beavers with backup Lily Souza playing 15 minutes and also recording one save. The Beavers also tallied 14 corner kick opportunities.
UMaine-Farmington women's soccer returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 3, when it hosts Fisher College at Leib Field in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
