MANCHESTER, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington first year Neil Larochelle III shot a 10-over 80 and was tied for 10th overall at Wednesday's Maine Maritime Mariner Invitational, held at the Augusta Country Club.
Larochelle was tied with Colby College's Jacob Tezler on the individual leaderboard. He was one stroke ahead of the Beavers' Daniel Mickiewicz, who carded an 81 (+11) on the par 70, 5,943-yard Augusta Country Club course and finished tied for 12th.
Jack Burton finished tied for 26th after firing an 86 (+16), while Ryan Sargent carded an 89 (+19) and was tied for 30th on the individual leaderbord. Kellen True rounded out the UMaine-Farmington five in the tournament with a round of 94 (+24) and finished 35th overall.
UMaine-Farmington finished sixth out of eight teams in the tournament with a round of 336 (+56). The University of New England won the tournament with a round of 311 (+31), finishing two strokes ahead of the University of Southern Maine (313, +33).
Southern Maine's John Welch took medalist honors with a three-over 73, with a group of four golfers all shooting a 76 (+6) and finishing in a four-way tie for second place.
UMaine-Farmington golf will compete at the Husson Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
