NEW LONDON, New Hampshire – Three University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country runners crossed the finish line among a pack of runners just past the 23-minute mark as the Beavers finished fourth out of six teams at Saturday's Colby-Sawyer Charger Invitational.
Anna MacDonald was the Beavers' top finisher in 16th place with a time 23:37.43. She finished in the middle of a pack of four runners who crossed the line in a span of seven seconds, and within a group of nine runners who finished within a 53-second time frame.
First year Angie Tehuitzel was also within the pack, placing 18th with a time of 23:42.20, and Emily Eaton crossed the line in 23:56.23 to finish 19th overall and round out UMF finishers among the top 20.
Abbie Hunt (21st, 24:09.47) and Fiona Ladner-Hudson (22nd, 24:09.95) rounded out the scoring runners for the Beavers. Grace Broughton (23rd, 24:20.04) and Kaylee-Mae Durgin (28th, 25:45.84) were pushers in the results for UMaine-Farmington.
Norwich runner India Jones won the 5000m race with a time of 19:45.91, but Colby-Sawyer placed three runners among the top five on its way to winning the team title with 29 points.
Plymouth State was second with 52 points, followed by St. Joseph's of Maine (62 pts.), UMaine-Farmington (96 pts.), Norwich (125 pts.) and Lasell (138 pts.)
The Beavers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 11, when they head to Waterville, Maine, to compete in the Thomas College Invitational.
