MIDDLEBURY, Vermont – Junior Alixx Canwell finished third in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put to pace the University of Maine at Farmington men's track and field team at Saturday's Middlebury College Winterfell indoor meet.
Canwell recorded a throw of 13.95m (45-9.25) in the weight throw, and had a mark of 12.94m (42-5.5) in the shot put.
Sophomore Justin Castaldo was second in the 800m run with a time of 2:00.93, and sophomore Covy Dufort took ninth in the 3000m run after crossing the line in a time of 9:25.28.
First year Henry Scheff was seventh in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.12 seconds in the finals.
As a team, UMaine-Farmington was sixth out of nine teams with 34 points. Amherst College won the meet with 153.50 points
The Beavers are back in action next Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic, held the BU Track and Tennis Center.
