Terriers top Beavers in NECC Opener

FARMINGTON, Maine - On Saturday afternoon it was the Thomas College Terriers who came to Prescott Field and downed the University of Maine at Farmington Beavers 7-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opener for each team.

The Terriers were able to grab a lead four minutes and 35 seconds into the contest when Avery Herrick (Dexter, Maine) ripped one into the back of the cage. The Terriers would double their lead just a minute and 17 seconds later on a goal from Leah Knight (Winslow, Maine). The goal came off a penalty corner that was played to Julia Reny (Gardiner, Maine) who beat a defender and dished to Knight who finished through the legs of Beaver goalkeeper Alicia Bridges (Livermore Falls, Maine).

Lauren Blood (Belfast, Maine) and Herrick would add markers in the second quarter to help the Terriers take a 4-0 lead into halftime.

The Terriers would score three more in the second half for the 7-0 win.
