LYNDONVILLE, Vermont - The University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team went on the road this afternoon and beat Northern Vermont-Lyndon 5-0 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest.
The Beavers grabbed an early lead in the contest on a goal from freshman defender Maxon Brochu (Bath, Maine) in just the fifth minute. The goal from Brochu was the first goal of his collegiate career. The Beavers won a corner kick setting up Brochu's marker. Junior midfielder Coleman Watson (Readfield, Maine) would double the Beaver lead in the 32nd minute when he found the back of the net off from a feed from junior defender Will Dowse (Sherborn, Mass.)
The score would remain 2-0 into the second half where the Beavers would add a third tally on a quick counter. Sophomore midfielder Zach Chaisson (Scarborough, Maine) would beat Lydon's goalkeeper Brett Roy (Newport, Verm.) off a feed from freshman Arden Weaver (Surry, Maine)
Senior Logan Curtis (Thorndike, Maine) would convert a penalty kick in the 69th minute to give the Beavers a four goal advantage. Freshman midfielder Eric Vining (Manchester, Maine) finished off the scoring with his first collegiate goal in the 72nd minute. Cassidy Pound (Montville, Maine) tallied the assist on Vining's goal.
Senior goalkeeper Jonah Sautter (Lisbon, Maine) and freshman goalkeeper Jack Wormald (Salisbury, N.H.) did not have to register a save in the shutout.
The Beavers held a 30-6 advantage in shots including 16-0 in shots on goal. The Beavers also held a 15-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Beavers improve to 4-2-1 on the year with a 4-1 record in NAC play.
