Beavers Fall to Eagles in Final Regular Season Game

BANGOR, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team traveled to Husson University on Sunday morning in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) game at the Winkin Sports Complex, dropping the contest 8-0. The game marked the final game of the regular season for each team. The Beavers finish the season at 1-12 and 0-6 in NECC play while the Eagles finish at 9-5 and 6-0 in conference.

The Eagles got the scoring started early on, picking up three goals in the first six minutes of the game. The first came from Jessica Hart (Brewer, Maine) on a nice feed from Kayleigh Eckenrode (Nashua, N.H.). Katie Perkins (Winthrop, Maine) picked up the next two goals for the Eagles two minutes and ten second apart. The first goal was unassisted while the second came off an assist from Leigha Carrier (Mexico, Maine).

The Beavers did not allow a goal for the next 31 minutes of play. The Eagles would tally five goals in the second half. Perkins would score her third goal in the second half while her sister Maddie Perkins (Winthrop, Maine), Julia Murch (Naples, Maine), Maya Joy (Acton, Maine), and Mallory Fairbanks (Lisbon Falls, Maine) all contributed a goal in the second half for the Eagles.

For the Beavers, senior goalkeeper Katelyn Rouleau (Freeport, Maine) picked up 19 saves. Jennasea Hubbard (Waterville, Maine) tallied the lone shot for the Beavers.

Kimmie Goddard (Westbrook, Maine) did not make a save in picking up the shutout.

The Eagles held advantages in shots (47-1), shots on goal (29-0), and penalty corners (20-0).

UP NEXT

The Beavers will be back in action next Saturday, November 5th in the first round of the NECC tournament. Their matchup will be released later this week.
