WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington Track and Field teams competed today at the Elm City Classic hosted by Colby College. Colby and Thomas College were the two other teams that competed at the event. Four Farmington athletes broke school records at today's meet.
Men's Highlights:
Covy Dufort (Wells, Maine) came in 1st place in the 3000 meter race finishing with a time of 9:12.06, breaking a Farmington school record. Finishing in 2nd place behind Dufort in the 3000 meter run was Jimmy Reel (Nashua, N.H.) in a time of 9:21.52. Reel's time was the 2nd fastest in school history.
In high jump, Ben Vachon (Portland, Maine) finished in 2nd place with a jump of 1.70 meters. A.J. Feldman of Colby finished in 1st place after reaching 1.80 meters. Vachon also finished in 2nd place in triple jump with a mark of 12.89 meters. Kevin Yan, also of Colby finished in 1st place with a mark of 12.89 meters.
Alixx Canwell (Chelsea, Maine) broke a pair of school records, in shot put and weight throw. Canwell finished in 1st place in the shot put with a throw of 13.13 meters. In the weight throw, Canwell also came in 1st place with a 14.32 meter throw. With the 14.32 meter throw, Canwell qualified for the New England Regionals, the first ever Beaver to qualify during the indoor season.
Alex Sheran (Nashua, N.H.) came in 2nd place in the shot put with a 12.13 meter throw. The throw from Sheran put him second all-time in Beaver history.
Alex Urszinyi (Lawrenceville, N.J.) finished in 2nd in the weight throw with a mark of 12.70 meters.
The men would finish 3rd out of the three teams, totaling 70 points.
Women's Highlights:
Charlotte Wentworth (Sidney, Maine) came in 6th place in the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:45.66. Wentworth was 5.5 seconds out of 1st place. The time from Wentworth set the fastest time in Farmington history.
Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) finished 1st in the 60 meter hurdles with a program record breaking time of 10.54 seconds. Johnson broke her own record that she set a week ago at Bowdoin. Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) was 3rd with a time of 11.18 seconds.Â
In the triple jump, Johnson and Abigail Minott (Bath, Maine) each tied for 2nd place with a mark of 10.33 meters.Â
Ilana Lybarger (Brussels, Belgium) broke a program record in the shot put, with a throw of 9.60 meters. Larbarger also came in 2nd place in the event.Â
The Beavers had the top two throwers in the weight throw. Emily Hargreaves (Gray-New Gloucester, Maine) came in 1st place with an 11.30 meter throw. Kaitlyn Harmon-Bolding (Biddeford, Maine) finished behind her with a 11.22 meter throw.Â
The women finished in second place with 78 points.

The Beavers next meet will be on January 14th, at the Peter Slovenski Invitational hosted by Bowdoin College.
