NEWRY, Maine - Four members of the University of Maine at Farmington men's snowboard / freeride team competed at today's USASA Maine Mountain Series Rail Jam event at Sunday River in Newry, Maine. The event hosted 70 competitors of all different ages, both male and female. There are different age brackets for each snowboarding and freeride.
Ryan Brueninghaus took first place in the USASA Freeski Open Class division on the shoulders of a 450 onto the down rail. Brueninghaus scored 1020 points with the trick, to take home the first place finish.
Simon Kern and Blue Lagoda each competed in the Snowboard USCSA Men's division. Kern took home first place scoring 1020 points with a frontboard slide on the down rail. Lagoda finished behind him in second place with 920 points with a backboard slide through the down rail.
Carson Theriault competed in the Freeski USCSA Men's Division, scoring 1140 points, to win gold on a variety of tricks.

The snowboard / freeride team will compete in the USASA Maine Mountain Series Slopestyle event on Sunday, January 8th at Sugarloaf.
