LAKE PLACID, New York - University of Maine at Farmington senior snowboarder Caelan Billings (Sumner, Maine) put together a pair of impressive runs en route to earning fifth place on Thursday in the USCSA Snowboarding Slalom National Championship at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, New York.
In an event where racers' final time is a combination of their two run times, Billings posted a total time of 1:10.99. Billings opened with a time of 32.87 seconds in his first run and sat in seventh place. He responded with a time of 38.12 seconds in his second run, the fifth-fastest time of any competitor on the course.
