BRUNSWICK, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's track and field team competed at the U Bears Alumni Invitational hosted by Bowdoin College today. The event was a non-scoring event that included Bowdoin Alumni as well as track and field teams from Farmington and Husson University.
The Beavers had five runners compete in the 60 meter dash. Antonio Ciccomancini (Portland, Maine) finished in second place with a time of 7.29 seconds. Seamus Reeve (Kittery, Maine) finished in third at 7.32 seconds.
In the 5000 meter race, the Beavers had the top four finishers. Covy Dufort (Wells, Maine) came in first (16:06.34), Luke Bliss (Underhill, Vermont) was second (16:10.95), Jimmy Reel (Nashua, N.H.) came in third (16:31.81), and Connor Freeman (Bath, Maine) was the fourth place finisher (17:11.85).
A four-man team of Thomas Gingras (Gardiner, Maine), Reeve, Justin Castaldo (Scarborough, Maine), and Freeman came in second place in the 4 x 400 meter relay.
Alixx Canwell (Chelsea, Maine) broke a pair of school records in the shot put and weight throw. Canwell placed in third place in the shot put with a 13.06 meter throw. He took second in the weight throw with a 14.14 meter throw.
On the women's side, Kiley Meader (Sidney, Maine) came in first place in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.70 seconds. Cara Perry (Stoughton, Mass.) finished in 8.71 seconds to tie for second place.
Eve Poteet (Fairhill, Maryland) came in first place in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:41.90. In the 5000 meter run, Charlotte Wentworth (Sidney, Maine) came in first place with a 20:16.38 time.
Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) came in first place and broke a Farmington record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.65 seconds.
In the triple jump, Abigail Minott (Bath, Maine) and Johnson placed one and two as Minott jumped to 10.52 meters and Johnson to 10.21 meters.
Emily Hargreaves (New Gloucester, Maine) finished in third place and also broke a school record in the weight throw with a throw of 12.12 meters.

The Beavers will compete next Saturday in the Elm City Challenge hosted by Colby College.
