BRUNSWICK, Maine – Garrett Jones' first-place finish in the triple jump was the top individual result of the day as the University of Maine at Farmington men's track & field team wrapped up its slate of regular season meets at the Bowdoin College Lynn Ruddy Invitational, held Saturday at the Farley Field House.
Jones posted a mark of 13.14m (43-1.5) in the triple jump, with teammate Owen Yabsira finishing in second place with a mark of 12.63m (41-5.25).
Other top UMaine-Farmington men's results for the day:
- Yussuf Adow finished second in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.85m (6-0.75). He also placed sixth in the 800m finals with a time of 2:07.63.
- In the 4x400m relay, the UMaine-Farmington team of Henry Scheff, Jones, Yabsira, and Justin Castaldo took second-place honors with a time of 3:40.07.
- Abshir Abukar posted a third-place finish in the 400m dash with his time of 52.19 (UMF record).
- Justin Castaldo finished third in the 600m with a time of 1:25.22, qualifying for the New England Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships, coming up next weekend in Middlebury, Vermont.
- Seamus Reeve took fourth in the 200m dash after crossing the finish line in 23.06 (UMF record), and was fifth in the 60m finals with a time of 7.13 (UMF record). Both times met the qualifying standard for the New England Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships.
- Henry Scheff was fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.83 seconds (UMF record).
Reeve, Scheff, Jones, and Castaldo will all compete next weekend at the New England Division III championship meet.
