STANDISH, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's track and field team recorded four individual first-place results and one top finish in the relays on its way to a second-place finish out of 15 teams at Saturday's Saint Joseph's College Monks Invitational, held at the SJC Athletics Complex.

The Beavers finished with 100 points, trailing only Southern Maine with 135 points. Husson (85 points) and Thomas (85 points) both finished behind UMaine-Farmington.

Sophomores Luke Bliss and Alex Thompson, first year Henry Scheff, and junior Alixx Canwell each posted first-place results.

Scheff took first place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.16m, while Bliss won the 10,000m run with a time of 34:50.01. Scheff also took third place in the high jump with a mark of 1.80m (5-10.75).

Thompson won the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.70m (12-1.5), and Canwell captured the hammer after a throw of 43.97m (144-3). Canwell also recorded a third-place showing in the shot put with a throw of 12.51m (41-0.5).

Yussuf Adow (1:01.45) and Abshir Abukar (1:01.76) placed fourth and fifth in the 400m hurdles, not far behind Scheff. Adow also finished on Scheff's heels in the high jump, where he was fourth after clearing the bar at 1.75m (5-8.75).

Abukar, Adow, Justin Castaldo, and Thompson teamed up to win the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:35.04.

Castaldo clocked a time of 2:02.51 and placed third in the 800m run, while Covy Dufort also recorded a third-place finish in the 5000m run with a time of 15:57.11.

UMaine-Farmington's track & field season continues at the Maine State Classic hosted by Bates College on Saturday, Apr. 23.
