KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington golf team placed fifth out of six teams today at the University of New England Invitational Tournament held at the Cape Arundel Golf Course. Endicott College placed first on the day by carding a four man score of 310.
The tournament consisted of six schools; UMaine-Farmington, Endicott College, Saint Joseph's College of Maine, University of Southern Maine, University of New England, and Maine Maritime Academy.Â
The Beavers four-man card of Neil LaRochelle III (Lisbon Falls, Maine), Ryan Sargent (Windham, Maine), Chris Frey (Auburn, Maine) and Jack Burton (Dayton, Maine) combined to shoot a 330. The 330 from the Beavers was their lowest total on the season as they continue to gear up for the North Atlantic Conference Tournament next weekend.Â
LaRochelle led the Beavers on the course with a 78. The 78 from LaRochelle tied him for the fourth lowest score on the day. Burton followed behind him with his lowest score of the season, carding an 80, the fifth lowest score. Sargent shot an 85 while Frey added an 87 for the Beavers.
Saint Joseph's Trevor Flanagan (Monmouth, Maine) took home medalist honors as he finished the day with a four over 73. The 73 was three strokes lower than any other golfer.
