Beavers Unable to Keep up With Eagles, Fall on the Road

BANGOR, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on the road, 101-36, at the hands of the Husson University Eagles on Saturday afternoon. 

Husson jumped out early and struck often en route to their 13th victory of the season. The Eagles shot an unbelievable 66.7% (12-18) from the field in the 1st quarter as they were able to jump out to a 29-9 lead after the quarter.

Husson did not slow down after the quarter as the Eagles shot 55.1% (38-69) from the field for the game and knocked down 10-23 three-pointers in the contest. 

The Beavers got another strong performance from Maddy White (Waldoboro, Maine) off the bench. Yesterday, White shot a perfect 6-6 from the field. Today, White followed up that performance knocking down 4-6 from the field and 2-3 from downtown to score a team-high 10 points. 

Grace Dwyer (Manchester, Maine) was solid once again, adding eight points and three boards on the afternoon.

The Eagles had eight players who scored eight or more points. Husson was led by Bailey Donovan who scored a game-high 16 points on 6-7 shooting. Vanessa Duarte added 14 points, hitting 3-4 from beyond the arc.

The Beavers shot 26.1% (12-46) from the field for the afternoon. The Eagles held a strong 49-22 advantage on the boards and forced 24 Beaver turnovers.

The Beavers will travel to Presque Isle, Maine of Friday evening to take on the Owls in an important NAC contest tipping off at 5:30 pm.
