BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Maine at Farmington had seven athletes compete at the John Thomas Terrier Classic track meet hosted by Boston University. The meet stretched across two days with the men's portion taking place on Friday while the women's portion took place today.
The meet was composed of teams across all three NCAA divisions and hundreds of competing athletes.
Yesterday's men's portion of the meet was highlighted by junior Covy Dufort (Wells, Maine) finishing 24th overall in the 1,000 meter run. Dufort was competing in his first ever 1,000 meter and finished in 2:35.36 seconds to qualify for the New England Regional meet. Dufort also broke a school record in the 1,000 meter.
Seamus Reeve (Kittery, Maine) competed in the 200 meter dash. Reeve finished 77th overall in the highly competitive race. Reeve raced to a 23.32 second time.
Justin Castaldo (Scarborough, Maine) ran a 2:01.60 to finish 108th in the 800 meter run. There were 137 total racers in the 800 meter.
Alixx Canwell (Chelsea, Maine) competed in the weight throw where he placed 8th overall with a massive 15.01 meter throw.
On the women's side today, Charlotte Wentworth (Sidney, Maine) and Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) each competed in the 800 meter run. Wentworth finished 85th overall with a 2:34.76 time. MacDonald finished on her heels in 86th place with a time of 2:35.60.
Abigail Minott (Bath, Maine) competed in the triple jump where she placed in 22nd overall with a jump of 10.53 meters.
