AURORA, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Abby Hanson (South Paris, Maine) scored a pair of goals to help lead the Beavers to their first win of the season against Wells College on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless 1st quarter, the Beavers got on the scoreboard in the 22nd minute when Winter Adams (Rockland, Maine) found the goal on a beautiful long pass from Lindsay Boisvert (Westbrook, Maine).
Hanson scored for the Beavers just two minutes later, when she took advantage of a Wells turnover to double the Beavers lead in the 24th minute and help the Beavers take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Hanson found the back of the goal for the 2nd time 7:44 into the 2nd half when Gabby Vincentsen (Bristol, Maine) sent a slap pass in front of the net to a wide open Hanson, who did not miss, giving the Beavers a 3-0 lead.
Vincentsen extended the Beaver lead five minutes later. After another Wells turnover, the ball found Vincentsen in front of the goal to fire a one-timer past the goalkeeper to give the Beavers a 4-0 lead.
Elizabeth Kendall (Guilford, Maine) made it a 5-0 game late in the 4th quarter when her slap shot found the goal after the Beavers were awarded a penalty corner.
The win for the Beavers marks the first win in Head Coach Mary Sinclair's coaching career.
The Beavers held a steep advantage in shots (26-5), shots on goal (15-1), and penalty corners (18-5).
Ella Grant (Sturbridge, Mass.) made one save in picking up the shutout victory.

The Beavers will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they take on SUNY Morrisville in another North Atlantic Conference contest at 12 PM.
