GRAY, Maine - The four-man team of Neil LaRochelle III (Lisbon Falls, Maine), Ryan Sargent (Windham, Maine), Jack Burton (Dayton, Maine) and Chris Frey (Auburn, Maine) combined to shoot a 349 this afternoon at the USM Fall Invitational held at Spring Meadows Golf Club in Gray, Maine.
LaRochelle III carded an 80, placing tied for 12th as an individual. LaRochelle III shot a +6, 41 on the front nine, tallying a birdie of the par four 7th. On the back nine LaRochelle carded three birdies, birdying the par five 10th, par four 11th, and the par four 18th to finish with a 39 (+3).
Sargent struggled on the front nine, but settled down big time on the back to place tied for 29th with a card of a 90. Sargent picked up six pars and a birdie on the back nine to post a 37 after his tough front nine. Sargent's birdie came on the par four 11th.
Burton continued his steady play for the Beavers on Saturday afternoon, finishing tied for 26th overall. Burton carded an 87 for the afternoon, shooting a 44 on the front nine and a 43 on the back. Burton picked up a birdie on the 417 yard par four 17th hole.
Frey placed 31st overall, shooting a 92 on the afternoon. Frey carded a 49 on the front nine before carding a 43 on the back nine. Frey's back nine included four pars.
Thomas Thornton (Readfield, Maine) was the fifth Beaver to compete, shooting a 104 to place 35th overall. Thornton shot a 53 on the front nine and 51 on the back.
The University of New England took both the team and individual titles, shooting a team score of 314 with Trevor Flanagan shooting a 74 to take the individual trophy.Â

The Beavers will travel Kennebunkport, Maine to compete in the University of New England Invitational on Monday morning at the Cape Arundel Golf Club. Monday's match marks the Beavers' final tune up before the North Atlantic Conference Tournament that is set to begin on Saturday October 7th.
