FRANKLIN, Mass. - Dean College used a scoring spurt that saw them score three goals across ten minutes of game time en route to a 3-0 non-conference field hockey victory against the University of Maine at Farmington on Sunday afternoon.
The game was a back and forth battle for most of the 1st half as the Beavers held a 7-3 advantage in shots through the opening 29 minutes. Sydnee Ramos perfectly placed a shot to the bottom corner of the goal with 19 seconds to play in the 1st half to help the Bulldogs take 1-0 advantage into halftime.
The Beavers controlled a majority of the offensive chances in the 2nd quarter as they registered seven shots but were unable to crack the scoreboard.
Dean doubled their lead just 48 seconds into the 3rd quarter when Meredith Landers put home a rebound off a shot from Emily Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick was awarded the assist on the goal.
In the 39th minute the Bulldogs added to their lead as Ramos found the back of the goal for the 2nd time.
First-year Gabby Vincentsen (Bristol, Maine) led the Beavers with four shots on goal. Abby Hanson (South Paris, Maine) added a pair of shots on goal for Farmington. Ella Grant (Sturbridge, Mass.) made a pair of saves for the Beavers.
The Bulldogs were led by Ramos who notched a pair of goals. Mackenzie Fillion picked up six saves to record the shutout.
The Bulldogs held a narrow advantage in shots (12-10) and corner kicks (5-1). The Beavers held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal.
