LYNDONVILLE, Vermont - The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team dropped a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contests to Northern Vermont-Lyndon on Saturday afternoon, 7-2 and 10-2.
Game One
The Hornets opened the scoring in the 1st inning on an RBI single from Ryan Alt to make it a 1-0 game.Â
The Hornets had a big 3rd inning, pushing across three runs to open up a 4-0 lead. TJ Santaw led off with a single for NVU-Lyndon. Santaw came into score on a one-out RBI triple from Dylan Wilson. Alt came through with his 2nd hit of the game, a single to center field to score Wilson, Making it 3-0 Hornets. Alt came into score later in the inning on a wild pitch.
Dale Ostermann picked up an RBI single in the bottom of the 4th to make it 5-0. The Hornets added a pair of unearned runs in the 6th to make it 7-0.
The Beavers were able to get a pair of runs in the top of the 7th. Juan Subervi (Lynn, Mass.) singled to left field to pick up his 1st RBI of the season and Nate Coombs (Thomaston, Maine) picked up an RBI on a groundout later in the inning.Â
Chris Albert pitched the first 2.2 innings, giving up four runs on six hits to pick up the loss. Logan Holcomb (Hebron, Conn.) pitched the final 3.1 innings in relief, giving up just one earned run while giving up just a pair of hits. Hunter LaBossiere (Oxford, Maine), Jameson Bloch (Attleboro, Mass.) and Derek Gendreau (Hampden, Maine) each tallied a pair of hits for the Beavers.Â
Carlos Rodriguez went the distance for the Hornets giving up two runs on six hits while striking out six. Ostermann went 2-3 with an RBI and a runs scored while Alt finished 2-3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored for Lyndon.
Game Two
The Hornets scored runs in seven out of eight innings en route to the 10-2 victory. Santaw led off the bottom of the 1st with a triple to right field and came into score on a groundout from Ostermann.
In the bottom of the 2nd EJ Camden recorded an RBI single and Santaw drew a bases loaded walk to help the Hornets take a 3-0 lead.
The Beavers were able to get on the board in the top of the 4th inning. Coombs led off with a walk and moved up to 2nd base on a ground out. Bloch ripped a single to center to score Coombs and make it a 3-1 game.Â
An RBI double from Ostermann and RBI singles from Will Perkins and Tyler Murro in the bottom of the 4th inning allowed the Hornets to open up a 6-1 lead.
NVU-Lyndon tacked on another run in the 5th inning on an RBI double from Santaw
Bloch continued his strong day at the plate for the Beavers in the 6th inning when he singled to right center to drive in Coombs who doubled earlier in the innings.
Matt Doherty and Ostermann each picked up RBI doubles for Lyndon.
Aaron Goschke (Gorham, Maine) picked up the loss on the mound for the Beavers, pitching the first 3.2 innings giving up six earned on five hits while striking out three. Bloch led the Beavers offense with a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs.
Alt pitched the first seven innings on the mound for the Hornets giving up two earned on four hits to pick up his 1st win of the season. Santaw went 3-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored to lead the offense for the Hornets. Ostermann, Perkins, and Murro each picked up two hits for NVU-Lyndon.

The Beavers and Hornets will square off once again on Sunday in another NAC doubleheader in Lyndonville. Game one is scheduled for 12 PM.
