STANDISH, ME - The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's track a field teams showed very well for themselves in a competitive field on Friday and Saturday at the Monks Invitational hosted by St. Joseph's College of Maine. The men placed 4th out of 17 teams with 93.5 points while placed 7th out of 15 teams with 48 points.
Women's Highlights
Cara Perry (Stoughton, Mass) placed 10th overall in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.79 seconds.
In the 800 meter run, Charlotte Wentworth (Sidney, Maine) picked up six points with a 3rd place finish as she finished with a time of 2:29.31.
Eve Poteet (Fairhill, Maryland) picked up a 5th place finish, recording four points with a time of 5:35.72 in the 1,500 meter run.
Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) had a strong day for the Beavers, placing 7th overall in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:22.23. MacDonald also took home 1st place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 13:18.15, 45 seconds ahead of 2nd place.
The team of Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine), Abigail Minott (Bath, Maine), Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine), and Perry placed 4th overall in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 52.76 seconds.
Minott placed 6th overall with a mark of 4.6 meters in the high jump.
Emily Hargreaves (New Gloucester, Maine) took home the gold in the hammer throw after her throw that was marked at 39.08 meters.
Men's Highlights
Seamus Reeve (Kittery, Maine) picked up a big win in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.53 seconds. He then followed the 1st place finish with a 4th place finish in the 200 meter day, posting a time of 22.93 seconds.
Covy Dufort (Wells, Maine) had a very eventful weekend for the Beavers. On Friday, Dufort competed in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Silfen Invitational where he walked away with a 5th place finish with a time of 9:48.96. On Saturday, Dufort placed 3rd overall in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.60.
In the 5,000 meter run, Luke Bliss (Underhill, Vermont) took 4th place overall with a time of 16:30.93.
Yussuf Adow (Auburn, Maine) had a strong day for the Beavers. Adow placed 2nd overall in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.52 seconds. He also finished 6th overall in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.74. Tom Gingras (Gardiner, Maine) finished right behind Adow in 7th place with a time of 1:04.61.
Adow continued his strong day in the high jump, clearing the 1.85 meter bar to place 3rd overall.
Ben Vachon (Portland, Maine) took home 2nd place in the long jump after his jump was marked at 6.66 meters. Vachon then took home 1st place with a 12.93 meter mark in the triple jump.
Alixx Canwell (Chelsea, Maine) and Alex Sheran (Nashua, N.H.) each finished in the top-10 in the shot put. Canwell came in 2nd with a throw of 14.28 meters. Sheran placed 8th overall with a throw marked at 11.21 meters.
Sheran placed 4th overall in the discus while Connor Demmons (Boothbay, Maine) placed 6th and Canwell was 8th. Sheran's throw was marked at 36.51 meters, Demmons at 35.36 meters, and Canwell at 34.67 meters.
Canwell continued his strong day with a 2nd place finish in the hammer throw as his throw was marked at 48.01 meters. Alex Urszinyi (Lawrenceville, N.J.) placed 4th with a throw of 37.35 meters.

The Beavers will return to St. Joe's next Saturday for the Pine Tree State Classic.
