Minott Named a Finalist for North Atlantic Conference Woman of the Year

WATERVILLE, Maine - Recent graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington and member of the Women's Track and Field team, Abigail Minott (Bath, Maine), has been named one of eight finalists for the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Woman of the Year award.

The NAC Woman of the Year award is modeled after the NCAA Woman of the Year award that is awarded to graduating student-athletes and honors their academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service, and leadership.

Member institutions of the NAC nominate student-athletes from their own institution. The Conference's Athletic Directors and Senior Women Administrators vote to select the NAC Woman of the Year. The scoring for the academic excellence is based on the student-athletes grade point average. The athletic success portion of the award is scored based on the nominee's honors and accomplishments, both individual and team based. The leadership and service responsibilities section is scored based on the nominee's leadership activities, stating roles that they have held throughout their collegiate careers. Lastly, the community service is scored based upon the student-athlete's involvement in volunteer, community events.

Minott graduated in May with a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in Business Economics and adding a minor in Coaching. She put together an illustrious career on track for the Beavers, being crowned a NAC Champion in the triple jump, as well as finding herself in 17 different UMaine-Farmington top-10 performance lists in both indoor and outdoor track and field.

If named the NAC Woman of the Year, Minott will become the 3rd consecutive Beaver to receive the honor, and the 4th in the last six years. Minott would join McKenna Brodeur (2022), Fern Calkins (2021), and Laura Pulito (2018) as UMF graduates to receive the Conference's highest honor.

The winner of the NAC Woman of the Year will be released early in July. For more information on the NAC Woman of the Year and the full list of finalists, click HERE.
