WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington golf team hosted the annual UMF Invitational at the Waterville Country Club and fought through the steady rain and wet course conditions to grab 7th place at the tournament.
For the 2nd consecutive day, Neil LaRochelle III (Lisbon, Maine) led the Beavers on the course. LaRochelle III carded a 77 (+7), including a respectable 36 on the back nine. LaRochelle III finished tied for 7th individually with his 77.
Jack Burton (Dayton, Maine) had another solid day on the course for the Beavers, posting an 82 (+12), to tie for 22nd amongst the highly competitive field. Burton finished with an 86 yesterday in the Thomas Invitational at the Waterville Country Club.Â
Ryan Sargent (Windham, Maine) and Chris Frey (Auburn, Maine) were unable to find their strokes today with the tough conditions. Sargent carded a 92 (+22) for the 2nd consecutive day while Frey tallied a 95 (+25). Sargent finished tied for 32nd while Frey finished in 36th place.
The four-man team of LaRochelle III, Burton, Sargent, and Frey combined to shoot a 346 en route to their 7th place finish.Â
Husson University took home 1st place for the 2nd consecutive day, posting a team score of 297. Chris Kaupilla of Husson carded a course low, 71 (+1) to claim the individual title.Â
