WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington golf team competed in a tournament hosted by Thomas College on Thursday afternoon at the Waterville Country Club, taking 3rd place out of the four teams that competed. The top-four scorers for the Beavers combined to shoot a 349 en route to their 3rd place finish.
The Beavers top-three scorers shot eerily similar rounds with Neil LaRochelle (Lisbon Falls, Maine) shooting a team-low 83, while Ryan Sargent (Windham, Maine) and Chris Frey (Auburn, Maine) each shot matching 84s. All three shot a 44 on the front nine holes. LaRochelle shot a 39 on the back nine, while Sargent and Frey each shot a 40.
The Beavers fourth scoring golfer was Thomas Thornton (Readfield, Maine) who settled down on the back nine, shooting a 42, after a tough front nine, to card a 98 for the round.
Sam Parsell was the Beavers fifth golfer and did not contribute to the team's overall score, shooting a 105 over the 18 holes.
LaRochelle finished 8th individually for the tournament. Sargent and Frey tied with Payton Jones of the University of Maine at Presque Isle to place 9th.
Thomas College took 1st place as a team, carding a team total of a 306. The Terriers' Dylan Cunningham walked away as the medalist, putting up a score of 72 to finish three strokes ahead of his teammate Campbell Macomber.

The Beavers will be back in action on Wednesday, September 6th when they compete at the John Queenan Memorial Tournament hosted by Saint Joseph's College at Point Sebago Golf Course in Casco, Maine.
