RUMFORD, Maine - After the weekend's 1st event was canceled due to inclement weather on Saturday, the University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine team opened their 2024 season by grabbing 1st place in today's slalom race that took place at Black Mountain. The Beavers tallied 13 place points in the victory while the top three Beaver finishers combined for a time of 4:53.76 to top 2nd place Saint Joseph's College.

First-year Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) took home the individual crown in her first USCSA race. Robb sat in 3rd place after her first run, finishing in 47.24 seconds, just .43 seconds behind Madelyn Zordan of St. Joe's. Robb blazed down the course in her second run, finishing in 47.52 seconds, .78 seconds quicker than Zordan to capture her first collegiate medal.

Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) got her 2024 season started on the right foot, placing 2nd overall with a cumulative two-run time of 1:35.08. Caroselli's first run was clocked at 47.01 and she sat in 2nd place after one run. She finished her second run in 48.07 seconds to claim her silver medal.

Junior Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) was the 3rd Beaver to contribute to the team's cumulative time. Mahmood battled through her first run, finishing with a time of 53.59 seconds. Mahmood found her traction in the 2nd run, cutting three seconds off from her time, finishing the run in 50.33 seconds for a cumulative time of 1:43.92 which was good enough for 10th place.

Paloma Shelton (Berkley, Calif.) placed in 12th with a two-run time of 1:45.17. Tegan Andrew placed 19th overall with a two-run time of 1:52.30. Shelton and Andrew did not contribute to the team's total scoring time.
