Women’s Track and Field Grabs 6th Place at Bates Invitational

LEWISTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field team took home 6th place today at the Bates Invitational. The other competing teams were; Bates, Bowdoin, Husson, Colby, USM, Saint Joe's, and Coast Guard.

Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) had a strong day today for the Beavers. Burr placed 3rd overall in the 400 meters today, posting a time of 1:03.86. The time from Burr is the 2nd fastest 400 meter in program history. Burr also was seeded 7th after the preliminaries in the 60 meter dash, finishing with a time of 8.28 seconds.

Joy Evans (Farmington, Maine) broke the UMF program record in the women's mile posting a time of 5:31.74. Evans placed in 6th overall with her record setting performance.

Emily Hargreaves (New Gloucester, Maine) continued her strong season posting a pair of top-ten finishes today. Hargreaves grabbed 6th place in the shot put after her 4th attempt was marked at 9.08 meters. In the weight throw, Hargreaves placed 10th. Her 1st throw was marked at 11.36 meters.

Ilana Lybarger (Brussels, Belgium) and Kaitlyn Harmon-Bolding (Biddeford, Maine) finished 7th and 8th respectively in the weight throw. Lybarger's best throw was marked at 11.89 meters while Harmon-Bolding's came in at 11.83 meters.

The Beavers will compete at the John Thomas Terrier Classic next weekend at The Track in Boston, Massachusetts.
